SUPACOLOUR TRANSFER

What is SupaColour: SupaColour is a relatively new and effective way of decorating promotional products and apparel based on the traditional process of a heat applied transfer. By combining the quality of traditional silkscreen techniques with the flexibility and convenience of digital printing this innovative technology allows for a streamlined process of creative customization of textiles with premium-quality printing and unrivalled durability.

Advantages:

  • Can be applied to a wide range of fabrics.
  • Ideal for producing full colour, complex images as well as approximate spot colour branding.
  • High definition, vibrant matt finish artwork that is suitable on a range of garment fabrics.
  • SupaColour is eco-friendly, created from water-based inks without harsh or toxic chemicals.
  • Durable, flexible branding for apparel that is machine washable with a soft-touch matt finish.
  • Only one set up charge is required regardless of the number of print colours.

Limitations:

  • Neon/fluorescent colours cannot be reproduced.
  • Does not transfer well to garments with waterproof coatings.

EMBROIDERY

What is Embroidery: With embroidery, the logo is reproduced by stitching threads directly into fabric. In this digital age, this is fully automatic and is done using advanced software and high-tech machinery. The pricing depends on the number of stitches in your logo.

Advantages:

  • Embroidery is a classic and classy way to customize your workwear, corporate apparel, and other promotional items. The result is a clean look that makes your logo tangible.
  • Unlike paint or ink, embroidery doesn’t fade.
  • If you’re washing it repeatedly, it is likely to hold up better than a screen-printed piece of clothing.
  • Only one setup charge applies per position for up to 12 thread colours.

Limitations:

  • Only approximate PMS colour matches are possible – the threads to be used are chosen from those available to give the closest possible match.
  • Metallic embroidery colours may cost extra.

Summary: Embroidery can be applied to most garments, from polos and caps to corporate shirts and suits. In general, embroidery is cheaper for pocket-size logos, particularly for smaller quantities (less than 100 garments). It’s a great, long-lasting option for small areas of decoration on apparel.

SCREEN PRINT

What is Screen Printing: With screen printing, your logo is reproduced by squeezing inks through mesh screens directly onto a substrate. What’s a substrate? Basically, anything that can accept and hold the ink. For example, T-shirts, canvas tote bags, pens, yard signs, mugs, and many more. A separate mesh screen is required for each colour in your logo so designs with many colours cost more than simple one colour designs.

Advantages:

  • Screen printing can be less expensive than embroidery, especially larger logos as the embroidery can take tens of thousands of stitches to create.
  • And, unlike embroidery, screen printing can be used with lots of materials.
  • Close PMS matches are possible on white or light-coloured products.
  • Many products can print with tight multi-colour registration, with some products able to be printed using up to five colours.

Limitations:

  • Close PMS matches are more difficult on darker products and will only be approximate. In some instances, a white base will create a better print.
  • Each colour requires its own setup charge.

Summary: Versatile, durable, cost-efficient while remaining high quality. It’s an oldie but a goodie.
